[Multi-culture News] Gyeonggi-do pays 500,000 won to the families who gave birth within 12 months for post-natal care

Gyeonggi-do is operating the Post-natal Care Expenses Support Project(산후조리비 지원사업)’, which pays 500,000 won to families with childbirth.

The Post-natal Care Expenses Support Project refers to a project that provides 500,000 won in local currency to families with a child born within 12 months of age, regardless of the period of residence if they have resident registration in Gyeonggi-do on the date of birth and application.

Gyeonggi Province is also accepting applications through the integrated online administrative service portal(gg24.gg.go.kr), in parallel with the visitation application. Online application is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After completing the birth registration, the father or mother of the child can apply directly within 12 months from the date of birth.

Eligibility for application is as follows. The father or mother of the infant must be able to prove that he or she is registered as a resident in Gyeonggi-do as of the date of birth and application and that he or she actually resides in Gyeonggi-do as of the application date. In addition, as of the date of application, the period must not exceed 12 months after childbirth, and the birth must be registered in Gyeonggi-do. Lastly, one of the parents must be a Korean national.

However, as an exception, subsidies are also provided to some multicultural families or foreign families. For example, in the case of a family in which both parents are foreigners, or in the case of a foreign single mother family, post-natal care expenses can be supported if the mother of the infant holds a permanent resident (F-5) visa, resides in Gyeonggi-do as of the date of birth and application, and it has been less than 12 months since the infant was born.

At the time of application, Koreans must submit a copy of resident registration, an abstract of resident registration, and a family relation certificate, while foreigners must submit a certificate of alien registration and birth certificate.

Subsidies for post-natal care are paid in the form of local currency. It can be used at all public post-natal care centers in Gyeonggi-do. However, in the case of private post-natal care centers, it can be used only in Gyeonggi-do local currency affiliates. You can check whether affiliated stores are registered through the Gyeonggi-do Local Currency website (http://www.gmoney.or.kr).
